An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

What You See...

(Pro 13:7 KJV)  There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.

I have a knee jerk reaction to this verse.  It says that the pretend rich guy is a phoney but the pretend poor guy is just humble.  I am not sure that is the message.  There is no praise or condemnation offered, so we supply our own.  I don’t see God throwing thunder bolts over this but I do imagine Him shaking His head at the foolishness of His creation.

We have a hard time being ourselves.  There are some things I have accepted about myself.  I have big feet.  It is hard to hide.  There are other things that I keep hidden in the deep recesses of myself.  I know.  God knows.  No one else needs to know.  It is possible that if they did know they would ignore them as no big deal.

So?  There are sins we need to confess and repent of.  There are other things that we need to just get over.  It should be clear which is which.
