An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Wait for It

(Pro 29:16 KJV)  When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.

I am old enough to remember how it “used to be”.  I would like to be around when my children start talking about “when I was young.”  It would be entertaining for me if not for their children.  Having said that, it does seem that evil is on the rise.  As a kid I don’t remember ever locking our house.  I know I never had a key.  And we were comfortable leaving our car with the windows rolled down.  As a teenager I could have ordered a firearm out of the Sears catalogue and received it through the mail, no questions asked.  We took out jack knives to school and played mumblety peg during recess.  I remember driving through the “ghetto” areas of New York and having no fear.

Evil is on the rise.  It is more than just being more aware.  It happens regularly in human culture.  There is also an end.  We are assured that if we are part of the “righteous” (6662) we shall see their fall.  To be honest, it may be viewed from eternity but it will be viewed.

So?  God’s justice will come.  The fact that we were worthy of that justice before we trusted in Jesus should remind us of the hope that exists.
