An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

T Stands for Total

(Pro 6:12 KJV)  A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.

I began reading today and the first words I saw were “naughty" (worthless NASB) (1100) “person” (120) [adam].  How mean spirited.  How unfriendly.  How non-seeker friendly.  And of course, the one that modern American church attenders like to leave out, how Biblical.  It is amazing how hard it is for us to connect simple truth with the world we live in.

Think of the Calvinists.  Chances are if you scratch a Christian they will bleed Calvin.  The first point of the TULIP system is Total Depravity.  That is the ultimate worthless person.   Yet we go to church after church that is trying to appeal to the totally depraved by appealing to their comfort zone.  What part of depraved are they not getting?

So?  Wake up church.  We are not out to make the depraved feel at home in our sanctuaries, sorry, worship centers.  We are out to create an environment that will move them toward being uncomfortable with their sin.
