An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

(Pro 8:21 KJV)  That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

As I was reading the chapter I noticed a theme of promise.  The promise is that wisdom delivers.  It delivers a better life.  It delivers prosperity.  It brings peace of mind and all of the things that a healthy person might want.  It is a simple message.  We keep looking for the trap door and waiting for the other shoe to drop, but it is a promise.

Or maybe it would be better to say it is a prophecy.  The clear message is that living God’s way works.  Why should that surprise us?  Are we surprised when a car works better with gas in the tank than with water?  Are we surprised that fresh lettuce makes a better salad than old stuff that is liquefying?  Are we surprised when leaving early gets us to our destination on time?

So?  Wisdom works.  Obedience works.  God made us and the world we live in.  His directions should not come as a surprise.
