An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Toe Safety

(Pro 5:6 KJV)  Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

I am reaching an age where my automatic systems don’t work as well as they used to.  I sometimes say I do not multitask well anymore.  Of course there is the question of whether I ever multitasked.  It used to be I could set down a coffee cup and it would end up where I intended.  Now if I don’t pay attention it will be half on the coaster and might spill on everything.  It has happened.  I find that when I first get up I need to pay special attention to my walking.  Sometimes I run into the wall a few times before my brain kicks in.  “Ponder” (6424) it says.

You may have had the experience of your foot reaching out and trying to move a heavy piece of furniture with you little toe.  It doesn’t go well.  I would kick myself for being such a klutz but the toe already hurts.  I was not paying attention.

So?  This can happen in our spiritual lives.  We have decisions to make and comments to contribute.  Instead of stopping to consider the wisdom we have been reading we kick the couch, so to speak.  Take the time to ponder.  Check the balance.  Think of consequences.  Avoid the pain.
