An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Be Proactive

(Pro 30:12 KJV)  There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

Years ago I walked into my bedroom and noticed a strange smell.  I finally figured out it was me.  One of the problems we have in life is that we can get used to anything.  I understand one of the ways to not be offended by the stench of other people eating onions is to eat onions yourself.  It becomes natural to you.  So the room became natural.

When I am faced with a problem that I cannot see, or in this case smell, until it is too late I ask myself what proactive actions I can take.  For me I began the ritual of washing my sheets at least once a week.  That way I didn’t need to wait until I could smell it.  It was more pleasant for other people too.  Another application is to not buy foods that I go full glutton on.  If I ain’t got ‘em, I can’t eat ‘em.  It also helps to listen to the clues other people give such as, “What is that smell?”

So?  Sometimes the stench is just a minor social bump.  Other times it is the indication of spiritual decay.  Be on the alert.  (Posted, September 30, 2021, PP)
