An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Fools Hope

(Proverbs 26:6 KJV)  He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage.

This description would fit leaving the gospel in the hands of the disciples.  They obviously did not get the message or understand what had happened.  They had listened to Jesus for at least three years and had not heard a thing.  Have you ever been there?  His only comfort was in the final step that He knew would come.
(Luke 24:49 KJV)  And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
They did not understand this either but He was promising to send the Holy Spirit to fill them and change them in such a way that they would be able to go out and change the world.

The sad truth is that some of us have not met the Holy Spirit in power.  We have not been transformed in a way that moves us from being fools in an upper room to disciples with a message.

So?  If you are on the page, rejoice.  If not, think about it.  What was this “power from on high?  We celebrate it on Pentecost which is June 4 this year.
