An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Smart Mouth Response

(Proverbs 18:6 KJV)  A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.

Whatever happened to the mouth that got slapped for getting out of hand.  This would seem to give it a Biblical basis.  Like any Bible standard it can be abused and twisted by “fools” (3684), but that does not mean it is not a Biblical standard.  As Christians we need to be alert to the infiltration of the world into the church.  We are caving so fast that the whole structure is in danger of becoming impotent.  Physical response is one of these areas.

Our culture says that physical response is demeaning and damaging to self esteem.  In addition to this verse we have numerous references like,
(Proverbs 23:13-14 KJV)  Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.  Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
So?  If you believe what the Bible says about salvation then you need to believe what it says about interpersonal relations.  Pick and choose at your own peril.
