An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Target of Condemnation

Proverbs 6:32 (NASB95) The one who commits adultery with a woman is lacking sense; He who would destroy himself does it.

In our confused age there are people who like to talk about the patriarchy.  One of the distortions they pick out is how women caught in adultery were treated unfairly.  That may be so in some places but that is not the entire story.  This passage acts as a balance.

Notice that the condemnation is toward the man.  He is the one who is not forgiven.  He is the one who is targeted in the day of vengeance which is referred to in a later verse.

So?  Keep in mind that the world is full of people who either are ignorant or deliberately falsify the message of the Bible.  Do you own reading and thinking.
