An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Wise Timing

(Pro 20:5 KJV)  Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.

Which of these two is the target of this verse?  Is it the one who has the knowledge or the one who is seeking to access it?  It could be that this is recommending that we keep our advice to ourselves until it is sought.  That would certainly make sense because we have too many gurus on You Tube offering advice that no one wants, or at least no one who has any sense.  There will be a time to speak up.  Wait for it.

On the other side we are told that we will need to seek worthwhile input.  I would say that the person who is too willing to tell you what to do it possibly not the best source.

So?  Whether giving or seeking advice, make sure it is done prayerfully.  Consider the source.  It may not be your day.
