An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Shaky Feet

(Pro 3:26 KJV)  For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

I sit looking out my window basking in the results of 200 years of an experiment called America.  The dream has been if you worked hard and had a little luck you could have a life of security and prosperity.  As we have relaxed in that belief we have forgotten what makes that possibility possible.  The “confidence” (3689) of the Founding Fathers was not in reason or hard work, although both were important.  Their confidence was in Providence.  That is the word thy liked to use.  It was a confidence in the Lord as this verse reminds us.  That has not changed.  Our focus may have changed but that is not where it should be.

We are living in a time of much anxiety.  The international situation is volatile.  Our streets are becoming less safe and the rule of law seems to be ignored in the hallowed halls of government.  Keep in mind that Solomon was king of a small country surrounded by empires ready to gobble Israel up.  You think you got problems.

So?  Focus your confidence.  Get your feet down on solid ground.  Trust and obey.
