An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Submission

(Pro 27:18 KJV)  Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.

When I focus on the current political environment I have a growing concern about an overbearing government slowly diluting my liberty.  I feel a loss of freedom.  What God reminds me of with verses like this is that the bubble of American freedom is just that, a bubble.  People have been called to live righteous lives during some of the most perverted cultures in history.  Christians have been called to submit to autocrats and pagans.  Why should it be any different for us.

So?  I will continue to do what I can to maintain my liberty as an American but I will keep being reminded that I also need to be submission to my “master” (113) in the secular sense.

Our pastor texted me to read Galatians 6:9 in preparation for the sermon this morning so I wonder if we are not all thinking the same.

One reason we may be on the same page is because we are experiencing the same difficulties.
