An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Prolonged by Fear

(Pro 10:27 KJV)  The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

“Fear” (3374) is something that we have seen being peddled wholesale in the time since the China Virus came to public attention.  I have gone through a series of steps over the time.  At first there was some genuine concern because the authorities were declaring a possible problem of plague proportions.  At first it seemed at least some caution was in order.  Then came the The Grand Princess and Diamond Princess.  They were two cruise ships with the disease aboard.  They were full of prime candidates for death from the virus as portrayed.  They were quarantined for an extended period of time.  One ship had no deaths, the other seven.  After that it was clear this was mainly hype.

There are things we should fear, both with craven fear and awe.  There are others that become more like potholes in the street rather than a bridge out.  With a little caution they can be avoided.  Much of our caution should be based on a healthy fear of that which deserves it, God Himself.  Our fear of Him puts the other concerns in perspective.

So?  Keeping the bad fear under control allows the good fear to make our lives longer and richer.
