An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

No Laughing Matter

(Pro 14:9 KJV)  Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

The first part of this verse is a blanket statement of most church attenders today.  They don’t want to hear about sin.  They will laugh at you if you believe that a loving God will let people go to hell just for a few black marks on their record.  That, of course, is assuming that they even believe in the existence of the God of the Bible.  A good example of how this plays out in our culture is the unending array of fornication, adultery and perversion that we see in our entertainment and there is no reference to the catastrophic results.  Sin is just another word for fun.

So?  Each of us needs to remind ourselves that Jesus did not come to earth, live as a man and die on a cross to remind us of how wonderful we are.  He came to pay the price for our sin.  Rejoice and mourn.
