An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Problem of Accountability

(Pro 8:1 KJV)  Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?

I hope you realize that this is a rhetorical question.  It should be one that we are not even tempted to answer because it is so obvious.  Unfortunately that is not the case for everyone.  The law and commandment are saturated with wisdom but people don’t want to be bound.  The teachings of Jesus are dripping with wisdom but are ignored.  Righteous living is anchored in wisdom, yet so many drift.

The problem that some face is accountability.  Answers are available, but many people don’t want them.  You see, if you know that the cookies are off limits then you might not have an excuse for having one.  If you ignore that dinner is almost ready, you can have a little snack.  If you don’t want to accept delayed gratification you see no problem with promiscuity.

So?  Keep in mind that whether you acknowledge gravity or not, you will still fall if you step off a roof.
