An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Pro Choice

(Pro 2:13 KJV)  Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

This verse starts a three verse section that explains why so many people will end up in hell.  It can be summed up in two words that are denied by many Christians and pagans:  Free will.  I was talking to a college student and one of his classes was debating whether free will exists.  The name that pops into my mind is B.F. Skinner.  Another name that forces itself forward is John Calvin.  A third is Mohammad.  What do all have in common?  They deny free will.  This verse rejects all three.

People make choices.  The choices may not be shouted through megaphones but they are still real.  Those choices have consequences.  If you make the wrong choices, and we all have, you are on your way to damnation.  If you make the right choice and trust Jesus for your salvation you are on the road to an eternity with Him.  But keep in mind that the choices keep coming.

So?  Live like every day makes an eternal difference.  Don’t fall into the trap of “I prayed a prayer” or “God will make arbitrary choices”.
