An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Start at the Beginning

(Pro 30:24 KJV)  There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:

When I think of wisdom I usually focus on profound and lofty thoughts.  This series of verses seems to focus on the basics.  There is nothing overwhelming or out of reach in what is taking place.  I have a inclination to say, “Yeah.  Big deal.  So what?”

I think part of the lesson being given here is that wisdom starts in the small things.  When I was first planning on the discipline of rising early to spend time with the Lord I found it very hard to get up.  Eventually it dawned on me, or the Holy Spirit finally got my attention, that if you want to get up early you need to go to bed early.  It seems obvious now but I don’t know how many times I failed because of it.  Our lives are full of simple little bits of wisdom.

So?  Apply what you know.  Don’t wait to finish your graduate degree in philosophy.  In reality it will make you educated but not necessarily wise.
