An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Toddlers and Scorpions

(Pro 28:1 KJV) The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

Fear is a state of mind based on assumptions and experience.  With a toddler in the house we have often noticed how little fear she has.  In Texas we have scorpions.  It is a way of life.  It gives us a reason to practice our stomping and work on our reflexes.  A baby will often have no fear of this vicious little pest.  One of the concerns we have is that the granddaughter will try to pick up this moving object that caught her attention.  She is not aware that sin has polluted the world.

At the other end you have people who jump when they see a shadow that looks like a spider.  Maybe you have done a little practical joking in your life with plastic bugs or judiciously applied feathers.  Sometimes there is a reason for that.  If you know you are allergic to bee stings then you tend to be a little more proactive when you see those little pollinators.  Those who know they are righteous, so to speak, don’t worry about it so much.

So?  God has promised His blessings on the righteous.  We don’t always know what form that will take or if there will be some tangents built into the path.  What we do know is that we have read the book and we know who wins.
