An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

A Family Culture

(Pro 19:26 KJV) He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

Family is the bedrock of Christian society.  Our culture “assaults” (7703) this value.  I have read quotes from historical figures like John Dewey and professional organizations from the early parts of the twentieth century that have clear statements about the family being the enemy of their goals for society.  Satan would agree with that.

Does that mean that all families are perfect?  No, obviously not.  Families are made up of people.  Fathers and mothers are people.  Keep in mind that children are people also.  The oil that makes it work is the grace of God and the action of the Holy Spirit.  Each of us is accountable to God for our behavior.  We are also accountable to God to realize His standards are not the same as the society we live in.

So?  It is more important to spend your time building a strong family than a strong political party.  The same is true of just about every area of life.  If we really believed that how would it change our priorities?  I can’t answer that for you because I have my own sphere to worry about.
