An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Noise Pollution

(Proverbs 19:12 KJV)  The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

One lesson that we should learn is that political leaders are not God.  They are servants just like the rest of us, even if they don’t know it.  At the same time they tend to have more power over us and the Bible seems to imply that they are in the positions they are in to keep us in line.  They are God’s instruments.  This is true even if they don’t acknowledge Him.

Is a “roaring” (5099) lion dangerous?  Yes.  And they are more dangerous if you don’t pay attention to the roaring and avoid them.  It is the quiet lion that you really need to worry about.

We are in a political season.  There are many would-be lions roaring all kinds of things.  We need to learn to listen without being intimidated.  We need to sift and sort.  Above all we need to listen to the quiet voice of the Holy Spirit.

So?  Spend time on a scripture that has touched you some time in the past.  Better yet, read with an open heart so that a renewed mind can be yours.
