An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Forever Is Not Always Forever

(Proverbs 27:24 KJV)  For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation?

This verse is a good place to discuss the importance of obedience.  God makes promises.  I believe that most of those promises are conditional.  They are what I call “if/then” statements or sometimes “if/but”.  God promises that if we will do something, He will do something.  A good example is,
(1 John 1:9 KJV)  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Some Christians believe that a one time decision is good for eternal results.  To their credit many of them still live lives of righteousness and obedience.  I think that verses like this point out that the one time decision is the first of many decisions and as long as we seek to be faithful all is well.  This is not a proof text, just one of many that indicate this.

So?  God is faithful.  He expects us to be faithful.  I trust that is your goal.
