An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

One Way

Proverbs 1:31 (KJV) Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

Remember the gesture we used to make meaning “one way”?  Remember watching Billy Graham riding in a parade and holding up that index finger signifying, “one way”?  It was a glorious moment.  It meant the Jesus was the only way.  Unfortunately it was not something that the entire population adopted.  Tragically it wasn’t even something that the entire church adopted.

Notice the one way that the general population and the majority of Christians choose to follow.  It is called “their own way”.  There may be brief times where it seems to follow the path that God has laid out, but ultimately it branches off, and does its own thing.  It may even be so close to the actual “way” that you can’t tell the difference with a casual glance.  That is where you would look to the other verses in this chapter and get clarification.

So?  Are you walking in your way or His way?  Don’t settle for second best.  It is almost never too late to get on the right path.  I would say never too late, but I’m afraid I read the verses before this.
