An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Some Things Never Change

Proverbs 27:15 (KJV) A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.

Every time I read this I find it a bit amusing. I also find it a bit painful.  I’ll let you guess why it’s painful.

It’s amusing because for one thing it makes me feel the brotherhood of humanity.  Every once in a while I come across things which make me realize that I am not the only one who has experienced something, and when I have one of the great wisdom sources of history producing an idea like this it rings such a loud bell, I feel a oneness with humanity.  Isn’t it amazing how things that are so common today were common 3000 years ago.

So?  Is it any surprises the Bible can speak to us today?  If Solomon was wise enough to find something in common with us, how much more could God do the same?  Read with expectation.
