An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

An Obvious Secret

Psalms 73:26 (KJV) My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

(Proverbs 30 also read)

Every time I read this Psalm this verse takes me by surprise.  Someone put it into a song which I love to sing.  It contrasts the outward struggle and the break downs that we face with the inner rock that keeps us from crumbling.

The word “strength” literally means rock.  It has the concept of the immovable and impenetrable object, which is attacked by the irresistible force of life.  There are times when I wonder why I seem to keep getting up and moving forward again and the answer is here in this New Testament concept.  It’s the concept of the indwelling Holy Spirit.  It is the song we sing about Jesus being in our heart.

So?  Keep reaching down.  Keep reaching inside.  If you have met with God He will be there to be found.  And although He’s a rock, which is heavy, He will keep you floating and on top of the waves.
