An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Watch Your Step

Jeremiah 10:23 (KJV) O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

(Proverbs 24 also read)

This is a reminder that needs to come to us on a regular basis.  We get into planning.  We make a list of priorities.  We set goals.  All of the self-help books tell us that this is what we’re supposed to do.

Perhaps in spiritual matters DIY is not the best path to follow.  Yes, we have to be involved.  Yes, we have to make decisions.  Yes, we have to set goals.  But ultimately we need to keep in mind that it is God who is guiding our steps and position in the world around us.  That should give us peace.  It should help us in our planning.

So?  This is not an excuse to be idle or irresponsible.  It is a call to obedience.
