An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Got Wings?

(Psa 91:4 KJV)  He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

(Proverbs 4 also read)

What if God really had wings?  I know this is supposed to be a figure of speech but what if?  I would imagine His wings would be like He is himself.  I think here of immanence and transcendence.  I think of the God who is (unknown word inserted here) to create and maintain the universe and also so personal that He meets with me.  Imagine wings like that!

We don’t have wings and unless you have chickens or a window you gaze out of you don’t think of them much.  I see road runners who rarely extend their wings.  I saw one bird that kept flapping them for elevation and folding them in to coast.  I watch the vultures cruising with wings extended and motionless.

So?  They are also a place to find “refuge” (2620).  So versatile.  So strong.  So available.  Another reason to rejoice.
