An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

You Are Not the Only One

(2Pe 3:15-6 KJV)  And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

(Proverbs 31 also read)

Have you ever felt like there was something wrong with you because you could not understand what you were reading in the Bible.  In this verse Peter is sharing your pain.  He is specifically referring to the writing of the apostle Paul.

That being said, just because we don’t understand it does not mean we can’t figure it out.  Keep reading and thinking about what you have read.  Listen to others.  Sometimes they answer questions you have never verbalized.  Pray for guidance from the Holy Spirit.

So?  Hang in there.  If everything came automatically there would be no need for all those commentaries out there.  Actually, I am not sure there is any need for them anyway.  Most of what they tell you is their opinion.
