An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Plan Accordingly

(Pro 16:17 KJV)  The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

I live in Texas.  One of the concerns of people who live here and have values is our state capital, Austin.  One man told me he was taking his family to visit San Francisco.  I suggested that he acclimatize himself to what he would experience by going to Austin and walking back and forth under the freeway overpasses.  He would find the same things that are on every street corner in the City by the Bay:  Homelessness, drugs, violence, filth.

I think of my association with Austin as making sure I stay on the Highway of the Upright.  It is possible to get through that city without a lot of risk but in order to do so you need to stay on the Interstate.  That involves planning for adequate gas, bathroom stops and possible food.  You can get through the danger if you stay on the highway.

So?  Life has parallels.  God has given us a roadmap and a mind.  It is possible that God may have some unique experiences in store for us but we can avoid a lot of issues if we simply stay on the path He has laid out.  Don’t ask for trouble.  Ask for guidance.
