An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Surprise Ending

(Pro 29:9 KJV)  If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.

Why is the choice between anger and humor?  Both of them are the response of people who either don’t have the ability to understand or understand and don’t have the desire to admit it.  If you have a discussion with a wise man then there is a chance for real dialogue.  You listen.  He listens.  You both communicate and consider what you hear.  There is the strong possibility that you might be the one who learns something.

Which makes me wonder about how I respond to people.  My emotions tell me that I don’t always respond with the wisdom of listening.  I don’t have a bunch of examples in mind but I know the feeling.

So?  This is turning into a two edged sword I was not expecting.  That is one benefit of this kind of writing.  If done correctly it is not a lecture you give but one you attend.
