An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Illusions

(Pro 21:31 KJV) The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.

The difference between the KJV with “safety” (8668) and the NASB with “victory” is worth consideration.  The word is defined as salvation or deliverance.  It is translated with both of those words in both of the translations.  I think there is danger in both of the English words used here.  Although God promises us eternal safety and ultimate victory the Bible is also clear that there will be persecution and suffering in life.  Too often we want to think all will be bubbles and rainbows.

Our confidence is in God and not in any of the blessings He sends our ways.  We have a different perspective on what is important and what is secondary.

So?  Don’t get discouraged by the headlines even if they are true and accurate.  God is in control and will work His will.  Relax and enjoy the season.
