An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Eyes and Ears for All

(Proverbs 29:13 KJV)  The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.

I think this is an Old Testament approach to the concept that “all men are created equal”.  It tells me that there is no real excuse for the decisions we make based on our socio-economic status.  The Holy Spirit is speaking to hearts at all levels and in all conditions.

Of course that is a two edged sword.  It not only reminds us that the rich will be held accountable but also that the poor will face a moment of truth.  There is no escape.  Other places in Proverbs it reminds us that God can see our hearts so just saying, “I didn’t know” won’t excuse us.

So?  Whether you would consider yourself part of the elite or the oppressed, learn to listen.  God is trying to reach us either with a call to repentance or a word of encouragement.
