An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Dunkirk into D-Day

(Proverbs 26:28 KJV)  A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.

One of the hardest things for humans to do is look at things from God’s perspective.  In one sense it is obviously impossible.  He is an infinite God.  We are limited humans beings.  What I struggle with is a seeming mind block that insists that everything must be defined and described in my terms.  That is one of the points we can take from this today.  While the dangers being described in this verse could come quickly, the greatest threat is eternal.

It may seem that deceitful people win a lot of battles.  That is because they do.  The thing we need to remember is that they lose all the wars.  I don’t like the delayed gratification but it is still the way it is.  Some of that is God trying to give them a chance to repent.  Some is to give us a chance to repent.  Some is to help us mature and grow.

So?  We need to keep remembering that we have read the book and we know who wins.  If we can wrap our minds around that it will change the way we face the day.
