An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Grave Concerns

(Proverbs 12:28 KJV)  In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

I have not been to a funeral in a long time.  I have had friends who have lost parents in the last few years, but they have been far away.  I think that the next funeral I go to will be my own.  At least I hope so.  One of the themes that are perpetual at Christian funerals is that the person being remembered has not really died but has just moved along to the next step of eternity.  Most of us have heard the words of Paul in Corinthians 15 but are not aware he is actually quoting the Old Testament.
(Hosea 13:14 KJV)  I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.
It would seem that death should be afraid of our savior.

So?  Physical death in the eyes of the world is as sure as taxes.  Eternal life is also assured for those who follow Jesus.  May your walk here be productive and full of joy.  May the next step bring no fear.

I wish more folks understood that.

It is possible that even people who say they believe, don't. I can't really judge, just suspicious.
