An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Your Context

(Proverbs 25:3 KJV)  The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.

The context is kings.  The point can apply to so much in our lives from the reason for hunger in the world to why my wife does not understand me.  Some things are going to be too big for me to grasp.  Some things are going to be so intricate that I can’t begin to figure them out.  In between is a small area for me to actually grab hold of and work with.

Does that mean that I don’t try to stretch and understand the trinity?  Does it mean that I don’t meditate on the holiness of God?  Am I to ignore the implications of forgiveness?  Obviously not, or at least it is obvious to me.  God made us in His image.  We have minds and imaginations.  Yes, they have been tainted by sin.  Yes, we are not as smart as we think we are.  We can still enjoy the struggle to understand.

So?  Keep moving forward and expecting serendipitous experiences.  Keep in mind that if Balaam’s donkey can talk, we can listen.
