An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Not by Osmosis

(Proverbs 24:14 KJV)  So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Two thoughts here.  First, “wisdom” (2451) is required to have a “reward” (future NASB) (329).  This verse would imply that wisdom is not an option.  While there is a gift of wisdom there must be a level that is available to everyone.

Second, wisdom is not something that just appears.  We are expected to “find” (4672) it.  This should immediately bring to mind the words of Jesus,
(Matthew 7:7 KJV)  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
So?  Are you a passive or active believer?  It would seem to make a difference.  I don’t think you get wisdom by osmosis.  God offers but we must seek.
