Two thoughts here. First, “wisdom” (2451) is required to have a “reward” (future NASB) (329). This verse would imply that wisdom is not an option. While there is a gift of wisdom there must be a level that is available to everyone.
Second, wisdom is not something that just appears. We are expected to “find” (4672) it. This should immediately bring to mind the words of Jesus,
(Matthew 7:7 KJV) Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:So? Are you a passive or active believer? It would seem to make a difference. I don’t think you get wisdom by osmosis. God offers but we must seek.
