An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Thinking Positive Thoughts

(Proverbs 30:32 KJV)  If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth.

Lets assume for the moment that this describes you, now or in the past.  You have dug a hole and it is raining.  As a result of what you have said and done you are about to go under.  As a guy on the radio used to say, “If you have dug yourself into a hole the first thing you need to do is stop digging.”

Stop being a fool.  Two flags of foolishness are given.  One is your mouth.  Stop talking.  Think and pray before you make things worse.  And the clue to how to stop your mouth is to rechannel your brain.  Your thought life, your fantasies and your daydreaming can get you to the point where your mouth starts digging.  How do you get your mind off the bad stuff?  By applying it to the good things.
(Philippians 4:8 KJV)  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
So?  You keep bad air from coming in by having a positive pressure on the inside.  The same goes for your thought life.  The Holy Spirit can help you on this but He probably won’t do it without you.
