An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Search Patterns

(Proverbs 2:4 KJV)  If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

The closest I have come to looking for silver is to check the quarters I get from the laundromat change machine to see if someone used an old one with any silver content.  It doesn’t touch any bases that I run.  I could say the same thing for buried treasure.  It all sounds exotic but I would rather read a book.  Yet I still know what Solomon is talking about.  And so do you.

When something is valuable to us we will put in more effort than if it is just a requirement for a class we hate.  I don’t know how many classes I have taken and seminars I have endured just trying to figure out what was the least I had to do to get through.  If we handle our spiritual lives that way we will get as much out of it as we did those classes and God isn’t interested in our transcripts.

So?  What is your passion?  It needs to be Jesus.
