An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Fire Spin

(Proverbs 12:19 KJV)  The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

I noticed another difference between the NASB and KJV.  One is plural and the other is singular when it talks about “lip(s)”.  If it is the singular, like the KJV has it, then we are talking about an attitude or habit rather than a behavior.

Honesty needs to be an ingrained inclination in our souls.  We all know people that exaggerate.  In the news we call it spin.  In theology we call it interpretation.  It can be nothing but deceit.  Is it just a desire to tell a good story?  That can work well.  It is a tendency to change a few words to make yourself look better?  We have a problem.  A lie is a lie no matter how you want to explain it.

So?  Truth is a big deal to God.  Remember that there is a special corner in the lake of fire for liars.  Honestly.
