An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Vitamin W

(Proverbs 2:11 KJV)  Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

It is almost as if “understanding” (8394) has a personality.  Is this what we call an “anthropomorphism”?  It will “keep” (watch NASB) (5341) us.  There are several ways in which this word is translated that can help us.  It is “observe”, “tend”, and “preserve”.  It reflects a deliberate focus to keeping safe and guiding.

Of course this is describing how wisdom effects our lives.  It is almost like taking a necessary vitamin or mineral and tracing how it works in different parts of the body.  If you go a day without vitamin C it doesn’t ruin your life.  If you go a life without vitamin C it can ruin all your days.

So?  Have you had your daily dose of vitamin W?  You still have time before spiritual scurvy begins to make your spiritual teeth fall out.  At least I hope so.
