An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Who Hid Your Treasure?

(Proverbs 2:4 KJV)  If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

One of the themes you come across in literature is the search for “hidden treasures” (4301).  We sometimes dream about what we would do if we were suddenly wealthy.  When I am in a check out line and they ask me if I found everything, I will sometimes tell them I could not find the rack that had the winning lottery tickets.  I don’t expect to win the lottery.  My understanding is that you need to buy a ticket to win.

God has surrounded us with treasures.  Are they hidden?  Were my keys hidden when I could not find them or was I just not looking hard enough?  Yesterday I found the key I was looking for in the pocket of my sleeping shorts.  It just took a little thinking.  The book of Proverbs is full of gems and precious nuggets.  So are the other books.

You won’t find the treasure if you don’t look.

So?  What is keeping you?  Pick up your Bible.  Put it down.  Did you leave prints in the dust?  Hmm......
