An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Lips of Contention

(Proverbs 18:6 KJV)  A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.

If you look at this verse and the following one you see a parallel thought process.  The difference seems to be the scope of the results to foolishness.  In this verse it seems to be focusing on our everyday lives.  Foolish talk can get us in a pickle.  The next verse seems to be focusing on the eternal.  Foolish talk can send us to Hell.

Wow!  I was just joking.  Actually, God wasn’t.  It was still foolish.  There is a well known verse on this.
(James 3:6 KJV)  And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
So?  Think back over your day.  Think forward to what is coming.  Do you see any patterns you can change the might lead you in the paths of righteousness instead of the folly of loose lips?
