An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Accidental Wisdom

(Proverbs 3:16 KJV)  Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

How many times have you seen someone do something really stupid and said to yourself, “What a fool”?  Since I drive the freeways of California every morning I find myself saying that quite often.  I often offer up a short prayer that the person immersed in selfish driving will live long enough to hear the gospel.  When I see crazies on motorcycles zooming between lanes of traffic I recognize an accident waiting to happen.

There are different behaviors that have a promise of long life.  Here it is based on the appropriation and application of wisdom.  Wisdom leads you into situations and solutions that prolong life.  Although I can see this applied to eternity, this talks about days not ages.

But then I looked and this is the same word used for ages.

So?  Long and wonderful or cut short?  Which is your choice?  Seek wisdom.  Seek the promise.
