An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Spiritual Cataracts

(Proverbs 13:10 KJV)  Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

I am convinced that some people enjoy and seek “contention” (strife NASB) (4683).  They thrive on arguing for the sake of arguing.  Their goal is not to advance “wisdom” (2451) but to stir things up.

It may be fun but it is not the way that God would have us go.  At least that is what this verse seems to be implying.  When we discuss things with people we should really be seeking the input of others to balance our own perspective.  We should be realizing that we all have our opinions and that sometimes we have spiritual cataracts.

So?  Let someone else provide the laser that removes the obstacles to clear sight.  Remember that the model for the church is the Body of Christ and that one part honors the other.
