An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Input Shapes Output

(Proverbs 6:22 KJV)  When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

We need to understand that the thing that is going to “lead” (guide NASB) (5148) us, “keep” (watch NASB (8104) over (5921)) us, and “talk” (7878) to us is the law.  Look at verse 20 for the context.  Solomon is talking about observing the commandments.  We understand that the Holy Spirit will be active but the guiding principles are in the written directions.

Nothing will take the place of actually knowing what God expects.  Nothing.  There will be times when we spiritually fly by the seat of our pants and God will honor it, but that is supposed to be the exception, not the gold standard.

So?  Give the Holy Spirit something to work with.  Make it possible for Him to give you clear directions by doing your homework.  Read, think, meditate, listen and expect.
