An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Principle Payoff

Proverbs 23:15 (KJV) My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.

My children are grown and advancing in their lives.  My son is doing well in his profession.  My daughter did well professionally until she married and now she is fully committed to being a wife and mother.  They are doing what I wanted them to do, and that was be upright citizens, making a contribution and being part of the solution.  Of course, I also wanted them to serve the Lord.  My only regret is that they both worked for a time in the security industry and won’t let me brag about them.

Finally, as I get into my eighth year of retirement and I am looking down the hill, I know that the end is coming.  I can also look back and realize that my life has been a success.  As Proverbs says my heart rejoices because I can see the wisdom in the hearts of my children.

So?  At this point, I have to say that my life was a success.  If you were reading about successful people I would not be on the list.  Of course the successful people either have no children or their children are usually a mess.  They are successful, but it was something confined to them.  I can only claim to be blessed by God by following His principles.  I hope you can say the same.
