An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Rudder of the Spirit

Proverbs 18:14 (KJV) The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?

I currently do not have any infirmity that I am aware of.  Of course, at my age any ache or pain creates concern.  What spoke to me in this verse?  Today it is my awareness of others who are struggling with real physical issues and yet continue to have a positive attitude about life.  That attitude is not based on this life but the belief that there is life beyond the grave.  It’s based on knowing the Life Giver.  And that belief is expressed in the witness of the Spirit Himself.

I’m thinking particularly of one lady in our church who is in her last days unless God works a miracle.  There comes a time for all of us to die so as we get older perhaps we are less concerned about the miracle as the attitude we have as we draw to a close.  This lady has an awesome attitude.  She is an inspiration.  Even the pastor who went to minister to her, felt like he had been ministered to.  That is the spirit that we all have available to us.

So?  Got problems?  You most likely have nothing compared to what this lady is going through and what other saints are dealing with.  Or maybe you do.  Either way, God is available to give you the faith and the power you need.  Live in victory even if you are almost at that transition point.
