An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Incoming

Psalms 4:4 (KJV) Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

(Proverbs 28 also read)

I have just finished almost a full week of having company in my home and being in constant dialogue.  It was almost impossible to not be talking to someone.  Of course, part of that is listening, but I always have something to add.  Getting the last word is so important especially when what you have to say is so important.

Today is the first morning that I have not expected someone to come out and join me on the front porch or to head me off on my way.  Today was a day to get back into listening mode.  Today it was time to start freezing my mouth and lubricating my ears, in a spiritual way, of course.

So?  God wants to speak to us.  He wants to communicate not only truth but encouragement and direction.  That’s hard to do if we don’t listen.  I need to get back in that mood today.
