An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Be Careful What You Ask For

(Psa 106:15 KJV)  And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

(Proverbs 15 also read)

Once again the KJV comes through with a literal translation.  Compare the NASB:

(Psa 106:15 NAS77) So He gave them their request, But sent a wasting disease among them.
The marginal note in the NASB says that “wasting disease” (7332) means literally “leanness of soul”.  Again I ask, “Then why not translate it thus and let us make the application.

There is a reason why God does not give us everything we think we want.  He knows what it will really produce.  I don’t know about you but a lean soul does not sound like part of the plan I have for my life.

So?  Pray.  Let your requests be known to God.  Accept His wisdom when He ignores you or gives you an alternative you had not thought of.
