An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Delayed Ungratification

(Pro 26:27 KJV)  Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

The context of this verse has to do with sins of the mouth.  I see at least three general types of mouth sin:  Lies, agitation and gossip.  I guess all of them are forms of lies.  Verbal deceit is a major problem in our society.  That is nothing new.  Mankind has always been deceptive.  Lies can also encompass our actions.  We have all seen people who hate America saluting the flag and we know from the last election that many people charged with counting the votes did more adjusting than counting.

The point of this verse is that eventually the truth will come out.  Sometimes it is the judgement of history long after the death of the liar.  Sometimes it is immediate.  Ultimately it will come out on judgement day.

So?  Be honest even when it hurts.  It is part of God’s plan for righteousness.
