An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Words for the Day

(Pro 18:8 KJV) The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

I guess it is time for our monthly scolding on gossip.  If you are reading along you realize that the attacks of gossip in Proverbs are more frequent than monthly.  This is not the only verse that deals with loose lips, not by a long shot.  The reason for that is the simple sins are the easiest sins.  Few of us would know how to rob a bank.  Adultery is more in the imagination and fantasy than in reality.  Gossip is an every day temptation.

Gossip takes many forms.  Sometimes it disguises itself in righteous cloaks, like some prayer chains and Bible studies.  I think it is possible to wander into it simply because we are not thinking.

So?  Be alert.  Live righteously.  Habits can be changed and attitudes can be adjusted.
